The wave smashes violently onto the rocks. It has an overwhelming power. In ancient times, Japanese artists commonly used waves as a subject to express the dynamics of nature. When I stand in front of a vast ocean, the big waves suddenly appear in front of me. It seems as if the wave transported over a long time. Whenever I watch the big waves, I think of the people in old times. They might have seen the same waves just like me. I tried to express the scenery that people in the ancient time might have seen, and the time which links from the past to the future in my artworks.
